Not only was the summit a celebration of academic success, it was a fantastic opportunity for me to further develop my core values as a student and as a life-learner. I have never been to the United States, let alone Las Vegas, which is why this trip has been an eye-opening experience for me. The theme of the summit this year was “viva your life, viva your purpose, viva Las Vegas”, and it was chosen to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Golden Key since it’s foundation in Atlanta, Georgia. I joined Golden Key in my second-year, and since then every year I’ve become more involved with the activities and events. I’m currently studying towards a Master of Linguistics at UC, and I’m the current treasurer for the local chapter of Golden Key. This year I was given the opportunity to travel to the Palms Resort and Casino, Las Vegas to attend the Golden Key International Summit. All Golden Key Canterbury community service and professional development events/initiatives are organised by the student executive, elected at the Annual General Meeting held in October.
